Chris "Bam Bam" Shields

Chris has 17 years in racing. Chris started in racing at the age of 13, when he was taken to WIR for the first time ever by his mother (cleverly nicknamed "Pollock"). As soon as he felt the thrill of watching racing, he knew he had to get involved in a deeper level. Once Chris was 16, and old enough to get into the pits, he 1st quietly watched, and then started asking questions to the likes of Lowell Bennett, Rod Wheeler, Mark Anthony & Terry Van Roy to learn more in depth what it actually took to make a car go through the corners. Chris learned the fundamentals of building a race car and basic setup procedures while asking these questions, and some times even working on these cars. From that, Chris honed his more advanced skills working on different cars in different divisions from the Street Stocks of Greg Hauser, George Schwalbach, Mike King Jr. & Reed Beyer, the Limited Late Models of Chad Devine and Greg Hauser, & the Late Model of Andy Monday. Chris has held positions on teams from the guy sweeping the shop all the way up to Crew Chief. Along the way, Chris was involved in 14 top 10 seasons in points, 11 top 5 seasons in points, 6 second place seasons and 3 Championships, along with over 40 wins. Chris hasFielded his own Super Stock and 4cyl in a handfull of races over the years with varied results. Chris took the 2007 season off from driving to serve as the Fox River Racing Club President. With that now under his belt Chris looks forward to having some fun behind the wheel again. |
